Each week for four weeks our Media Partners – The Music Network, MTV, MySpace and a Street Press Collective, select one band or artist as their media pick. The media picks gain an instant place in the semi-finals, which start on 12th May. Last week The Music Network chose Brisbane band Ellington.
This week, Simone Stopford – Senior Manager, Talent Artist Relations from MTV has selected Sydney band Death Mattel and said:
“I think DEATH MATTEL have an instant appeal. With a smattering of samples and electronic sounds mixed into their scuzzy post punk guitar lines, the results grab you by the collar and demand that you pay attention. This band has been a well kept secret for far too long and it’s high time they were thrust into the spotlight.”
