The Scotch Of Saint James Set Free 'The Happy Peacock'...
It has been a big few monthes for The Scotch, having been Unearthed by Triple J at the very end of ’08, playing the Big Day Out ’09 and being chosen by a national judging panel as the wildcard entrants to the Garage 2V final in Sydney last month. More recently, The Scotch Of Saint James have been announced as one of four nominees in the ‘Most Promising New Act’ category for this year’s WAMi Awards (to be announced this May).
The first single released, a jaunty rock’n’roll waltz Blue Plastic Spoon, went straight to rotation on Triple J (second track on the disc).
The Happy Peacock however sees the gents taking a stark detour into ‘motivated stoner’, a new genre The Scotch have seemingly created and which this song exemplifies in spades. Heavy on the groove and scarily infectious, how resplendent the plumage of The Happy Peacock…
WAM got a sneak preview of the single and it proudly appears on the 2009 Kiss My WAMi compilation CD.
Released only to national radio and WA media this week, both The Happy Peacock and Blue Plastic Spoon will be out through Winterborn/ Inertia beginning of May, coinciding with the gents double A side tour through Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney.
