In an innovative move that will see five of the country’s hottest emerging musicians join together for a nationwide jaunt, the United Tour has been designed with a difference.
Five artists of varying shades; Tara Simmons (QLD), Edward Guglielmino (QLD), mcArtney (NSW), Coby Grant (VIC) and Simon Kelly (WA) are putting their play nice together skills to the test as they share an array of instruments and stages, as well as driving duties and servo sandwiches, to take the United Tour to the masses around Australia.
The lineup will see the fantastic five on stage together, intertwining stories with song, for the entirety of the show. They will perform their own songs, sometimes alone, sometimes helping each other out with additional instrumentation, and perhaps even jumping in on a few covers together. Individual styles will be meshed, tales will be spun about their lives and music, and the spotlight will be shared in what is set to be a truly one-off, spontaneous musical extravaganza.
And if you’re very lucky, a collaborative ode to chicko rolls could well emerge by the time the last roadhouse stop for the United Tour is done and dusted.

Tara Simmons‘ sonic adventurings have led her many places in her short and illustrious career but all of her experience and talent has been culminated onto her recently released debut album Spilt Milk. Having been best described as ‘an ingenious mix of heartfelt folk and skittering sample based electronica’, Tara is proficient on the cello, keys and in voice and is rapidly emerging as one important artist.
‘…sublime is the word.’ Rave album of the week, Spilt Milk’ ****1/2 - Denis Semchenko

mcArtney is a singer/songwriter - let’s get that straight. Although, the use of ukulele, guitars, basses, body percussion and thoughtful banter makes you feel you are experiencing a lot more. Having recently supported The Whitlams and Kate Miller-Heidke, as well as national Australian airplay, winning competitions in LA, headlining shows in NSW and drawing attention all across the music industry, there’s no need to keep an ear out for mcArtney… you’ll hear about him soon enough.
‘mcArtney manages to pack more beauty and truth into his 2:00 song “Circles” than some artists deliver in a lifetime…’ Rosanna Lee, KCSN FM/Los Angeles

Edward Guglielmino’s latest album Late At Night has seen the musician move from an online dynamo uploading even the roughest demos, to a true artist who captures attention on just about every level. Whether it be about his constant online bantering, an endless run of east coast and international touring or his unique style of avant-garde crooning, the last couple of years have seen the artist be the centre of conversation on many an occasion.
‘ There’s no doubting the professionalism Guglielmino has brought to the table with Late At Night even if you’ve never heard of him, upon hearing the album, you’ll probably wonder why you haven’t.’ Adam Dodd, Tom Magazine

Singer/songwriter Simon Kelly’s repetitious, rootsy poetry has drawn comparisons to Paul Simon and JJ Cale with subtle African and reggae rhythms. He is one of the most talked about artists in the thriving Fremantle roots scene thanks to his captivating live show, incorporating a loop pedal, intricate guitar work, unique vocals and humorous story telling. Kelly has just completed a new album produced by Tokyo based Canadian Alan Brey and the first single ‘Hey Man’ is already receiving Triple J rotation and strong support from community radio across the nation.
‘Kelly is a man defying convention, setting his beat driven acoustic balladry to the hypnotic sway of the Caribbean.. Kelly is unlike any other singer songwriter Australia (at least) has seen’ Xpress Magazine

Coby Grant is a Melbourne based singer/songwriter who has toured extensively throughout Australia. More recently she embarked on a 26 date national tour to celebrate the launch of her debut EP “Coby Grant Is In Full Colour”. The tour (in Feb/March/April 2009) was a huge success and she was very well received by both industry types and the public. This latest offering of acoustic/pop delights was recorded in the states with a number of top notch producers, writers and musicians including Peter Malick (Norah Jones), Anthony J Resta (Elton John, Duran Duran) Thomas Baraka DiCandia (Sting, Weezer) and Ted Greenberg (The Funk Brothers).
‘There is not a single chorus on the whole EP that you won’t be able to sing along to and indeed continue humming long after it is switched off.’ Tahlia Grieve, The Dwarf
