SUGAR ARMY - New single in February, National tour in March, Last live show until album recording.
If you thought Sugar Army thoroughly overworked themselves last year, undertaking four national tours – including a 35 date, 7 week epic with Gyroscope and Shihad, an additional quick jaunt to Melbourne for Pyramid Rock, releasing a snappy debut EP that achieved high rotation on triple j, whilst supporting Interpol on the side, and that a well-deserved break was certainly due over summer… think again. Arguably one of the hardest working acts in Perth, Sugar Army spent their Australia Day weekend locked away in the studios with Dave Parkin at Blackbird recording the first single from their forthcoming debut album (which is due for release mid-year). The single ‘Acute’ is a live favourite in the band’s repertoire, and will be made available for fans as a free download next month, hitting radio airwaves soon after. Keep your eyes fixed on www.myspace.com/sugararmybarracks as all details will be revealed shortly...
But not only is juicy new material from the Army heading our way soon, the band will also head out on their fifth national tour in 12 months in March - this time in co-headline mode (with another of Perth’s most exciting prospects) which will be preceded by their appearance at Rock It on March 8 supporting Kings Of Leon, The Fratellis and The Music. Announcement of Sugar Army’s national dates will be made next week, but you can catch them for the last time until March, and before they head back into the studios to commence tracking for their debut album, this Saturday 31st January at the Rosemount Hotel. It’s for the Something In The Water soundtrack launch alongside Cinema Prague, Abbe May & The Rockin’ Pneumonia and Sex Panther. Tickets at the door.
