WA Gig Guide Interview/Review

Reaching Koda

Reaching Koda

Wow! A performance that will never be forgotten!

As the opening of the night the band were on fire with their passion for great song writing and meaningful experimental rock on stage performance, these boys are very impressive and showed everyone how it should be done.

With dynamic guitar melodies, flowing bass and strong powerful vocals, these boys defiantly know how to play a tight expressive gig. The Vocalist Ryan is a real show stealer with a voice to die for and the way he works the stage and sings out to the audience making them feel like they are part of the performance. Just by scoping out the crowd you could see the smile on everyone’s face being draw to the presence of Reaching Koda.

Even though they have not been around for long, you would never have guessed it hearing their professional sound, and when they push the boundaries of common composition and performance technique. With such songs as “Sailors Wife” and “Star Fire Shores” they powered through them nicely and are incomparable and of huge significance to music as we know it.

To me Reaching Koda is going to get far and reach their crown.

Tell us about Reaching Koda.

We are a five piece band with members from Christinarose, We are the Emergency, and a new recruit. We love to drink and play music...

Which musical influences inspire the band?

Everything. Mainly bands like Circa Survive, Emarosa, Alexisonfire, The Butterfly Effect, etc. Basically stuff that isn't mainstream... although some of us do indulge in Justin Timberlake and Michael Jackson.

Your a very new band and already playing in Perth’s Hot Spots. What advice would you give to those who are trying to make it in the industry?

Contacts, contacts, contacts. That's it. The more shows you play, the better your reputation gets (hopefully), and the more contacts you get.

What do you love most about performing?

Pulling the piss out of ourselves, jumping around like tools, watching people sing along and have a good time.

What do you think about  WA's live music scene and how do you think it could be improved?

There's normally someone good playing every week, but we've kind of nestled ourselves into a few bands that we like watching live and we don't really go outside of it so we can't really comment.

Anything else?

We will be recording a debut EP at the end of this year or the start of next year, so look out for that. Other than that, we're all really poor so it would be a massive help if people could come to our shows and help pay for the booze. Not even joking.
