We recently had the opportunity to witness the CD launch of Craig Sinclair's latest release "Barefoot Ballads"
A young man hailing from Fremantle presented himself on stage along with a band obtained for the night's launch.
To accompany some of Craig's songs for the evening were Brenda Chapman (percussion & vocals), Roy Martines (bass), Jean Guy Lemire (harmonica) and a young lady that inspired some of Craig's later music Lara Norman (violin & Vocals).
There was a good audience comfortably positioned at Mojo's in Fremantle ready and eager to hear what Craig Sinclair was about to offer.
The band was all set and ready to go Craig picked up one of his guitars and shared with the audience his first set of tunes and vocals.
This man has talent in various forms, firstly his ability to make you listen to his voice and instrument. Rarely have I been to a launch where other than the stage performance do you hear utter silence. It was incredible, as each song went through the audience were zoned in on what Craig and his band were offering. At the end of each solo that Craig performed it was finished by a melodic string pluck from his guitar and every one of these were clearly heard and then the audience erupted into applause.
I spoke of Craig being a talented man, this was proven with his guitar and lap guitar playing, his attention to his music and the wonderful soulful melodic vocals all accompanied by his skillful songwriting.
I was surprised to see that Craig is a left hand guitar player, there are not to many of them around town. When it came time to hear his lap guitar playing it was outstanding whether it was accompanied with the band or not.
Craig is also a performer that not only involves his audience but acknowledges them also.
A night of melodic and soulful tunes, superb instrument playing and great songwriting skills, a pure pleasure to listen to, an A+ performer.
