The Bronze, in essence, is less of a band and more of a musical idea that has organically grown and developed over the past three years. The journey began in inner-Sydney with songwriter Aaron Peden, then at the proverbial crossroads, penning and crafting tunes on his acoustic guitar that he would record on his 8-track and perform in his lounge room to an empty bottle of vodka. Upon his return to Perth, Aaron had written a batch of songs he thought were worth sharing, and enlisted close friend Jon Stewart to start performing the tunes live. Adopting the moniker of 'The Bronze" (an obscure reference to their favourite TV show, Buffy), Aaron and Jon started performing open mic nights, which led to regular gigs at some of Perth's major venues, including Mojos, The Swan Basement, The Hydey, and the band's highlight to date, a coveted spot at the Fairbridge Folk Festival. Relishing the success but needing a platform to better express their ideas, The Bronze enlisted Ash Porter for Bass duties, and after an extensive search, finally added Ken Stivey on drums to complete the line up. The Bronze finally complete, the quartet are currently holed away in rehearsal, ready to launch their assault on the local music scene. Watch this space...
