Stranger Town have never followed the trends. Instead writing music they love, and as it comes with most songs evolving from long writing sessions. Some songs start with an idea or a riff, whilst others come from spontaneous jamming.
Vocalist Ray describes his lyrics as, "Observations of a particular moment in time, whether it be personal, social or a view of current events". Rock is the best word to describe the band's style however the songs can be very diverse at times. Musically, Stranger Town's songs have both a light and dark side. Sometimes reflective, sometimes honest Rock 'n Roll, other times bordering on psychedelia and with undeniable roots influences poking through. Ray's Vocal style has been described as a cross between Jim Morrison, Chris Cornell, and Ian Astbury.
The choruses are generally melodious and memorable. Live, the band is a high energy outfit and larger than life, with extroverted vocalist Ray commanding attention with an almost punk attitude. Garry and Rob add backing vocals live.
Influences: Led Zeppelin, Bowie, Soundgarden, Iggy Pop, The Rolling Stones, Radiohead, Pink Floyd, The Cult, The Doors, Hendrix, Pearl Jam, You am I, Metallica, The Beatles, and the list is endless.
