Perth Hills Jazz Orchestra is an incorporated community group of volunteer musicians who play big-band jazz because they want to! We play for all sorts of events and functions -- as a not-for-profit community service. We work throughout the country and metropolitan areas in Western Australia, and we travel to wherever people want entertainment for private or community functions. Most of our members live in or near Perth Hills.
We began in December 2002, and we now have 16 to 18 musicians playing in the band, plus excellent and experienced vocalists!. This makes PHiJO a very attractive unit for entertaining the public, and we insist on playing a wide-range of big-band jazz styles and sounds. And we can provide the right music for ballroom and old-time dancing as well!
Our Musical Director is Geoff Collins, replacing our founding MD, Murray Swain.
