Bossa Nova is more alive then ever through the voice of Brazilian singer Juliana Areias, who returns to Perth after performing for 30.000 people at the Darling Harbour in Sydney recently. Juliana brings with her the magic subtleties, stories and the evolution of the bossa rhythm that has inspired people to sway gently for over 50 years.
Juliana Areias’ career includes a performance at the revered Montreux Jazz Festival. Her authentic Brazilian voice, sense of groove, engaging charisma and a very personal and passionate stage presence are trademarks of her work.
Known as The Bossa Nova Baby – a nickname given by Brazilian journalist Ruy Castro (author of Bossa Nova’s history book Chega de Saudade) – Juliana’s love for this seductive music evolved into a desire to become a professional singer after meeting and learning directly from some of its creators.
