I am a singer/guitarist/songwriter that left the east coast and travelled west seeking, fame, fortune and adventure. I travelled across Australia with my wife heading for Geraldton until we heard about the wind and the angle of the trees. One look at the view from the top of York Street, Albany had made such an impression they decided to stay in and have been here since February 2003.
I was born in 1959 and six months before my birthday I told my mum, ‘I want to be a rhythm guitarist in a rock band’. Her response was to give me a ukulele and if I stuck with it I’d get a guitar on my 14th birthday. I learnt every Tiny Tim song possible.
I have played and sung solo, duos and in bands from the age of 15 in Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra and Albany covering all sorts of styles and eras from Rock’n’Roll, Rock, Hard Rock, Pop, Blues, Blues Rock, Country and Country Rock, Folk to Alternative types of music.
Over the last six years I have writing, resurrecting and playing my own original music with the early stages of production being set in motion with Producer Bruce Aitken and Marty Cowie at Mudbrick Studios in Albany. I am hoping the album ‘Australiana’ will be finished next year. The band’s name will be called, ‘The Kelly Gang’.
I will be playing solo on six and twelve string guitars once a month at the Vancouver Cafe in Albany choosing songs from 1930 to present day. I will take people down memory lane of songs forgotten, songs you’ve never heard of before, songs you all know and some original ones as well. The gigs at the Vancouver Cafe will be on Thursday nights from 6.00 to 8.00pm. If you don’t know it is 'Pizza Night' and a popular place to go for good food, excellent service and a groovy atmosphere. Come along not only for a delicious pizza but some great acoustic music as well. See you there..........
