Craig Sinclair (acoustic, dobro and lap steel guitars, vocals) combines crisp fingerstyle slide guitar playing with soulful vocals and contemporary original folk-blues songwriting. A warm stage presence and down to earth sense of humour make for a complete act that draws audiences into an articulate and heartfelt world of story, melody and mesmerising guitar sounds. This is timeless folk-blues music, that draws on many rich traditions, but in the end answers to itself.
Craig has quickly progressed to shows at major venues and events including Kulcha, Fremantle Arts Centre, Araluen Folk Festival, Bridgetown Blues Festival, Fairbridge Folk Festival and Yungaburra Folk Festival (Qld). An east coast tour in January 2007 saw him perform between Melbourne and Byron Bay, at some of Australia’s proudest original music venues. Craig was also invited to take part in the acclaimed RhythmSong workshop weekend as a guest tutor in 2007. Bookings have been made for the 2008 Wignalls Vintage Blues Festival.
Craig’s debut solo album, “Stones Beneath The Surface”, was released in May 2006 and launched in front of his home crowd in Fremantle to a packed house at Mojo's Music Bar. Since then it has received spot play on Triple J and ABC National radio, been featured on RTR FM as well as receiving extensive airplay on community radio stations around Australia. The song “Downstream Blues” was awarded first prize in the blues category of the 2006 WA Folk Federation Songwriting Competition. A live album of new original material entitled “Barefoot Ballads” was released in December 2007. The song “Rusting Armour” was a finalist in the 2007 WAM Song of the Year (folk/world category) while the song “Lara Clare” was awarded first prize in the 2007 WAM Song of the Year (blues/roots category).
