The Confederates are a five piece Pub Rock band that has been playing countless shows across the great state of Western Australia for the last six months.
The newest addition to the Confed family is the big voice of Watto. Watto’s voice can either croon the ladies with his seductive timbre or shred paint off the walls with roaring power. Watto is a bit of an enigma. Watto is a charismatic frontman who can deliver the goods every night without fail.
Guitarist Steve has been playing in numerous bands around the Perth scene and is an accomplished guitarist with a blues/funk/rock background. Steve’s voice is also capable of delivering a throaty growl reminiscent of Andrew Strong from The Commitments. Steve’s style of guitar playing lends itself well to all styles of music.
Lead guitarist Brett has also had lots of live experience with bands around Perth and has played with Steve in other bands which has formed a close bond in playing style and friendship. This translates into their collective playing as a wall of sound that delivers soaring leads and grunty power pop riffs. A fine player and vocalist, Brett can also sing lead and backup which gives the Confederates exquisite harmonies.
Bass Player David is the second half of the explosive rhythm section that gives the Confederates their rock solid, pumping back beat. David also has experience in the Perth scene and delivers the songs night after night in a manner that will get people up and dancing. David delivers the songs in an understated style and manner that lends comparison with Adam Clayton of U2 and John Deacon from Queen.
Drummer Dave rounds out the living, breathing entity that is the Confederates. Dave plays with a touch and feel that propels the band along its journey night after night. The Confederates backbeat and rhythm section are the foundation for the rest of the great players in the band, allowing them to paint a musical landscape that envelops the growing numbers of people that have heard them play live. Dave also sings backup which has now evolved the band into four part harmonies that enables the delivery of a full rock sound.
