Amanda Merdzan is a singer/songwriter with a 'heart-on-sleeve/indie/folk' style that sends her songs bursting with raw honesty and emotion. With a strong emphasis on lyrics, her stories are told sparing no intimate details, taking you to the core of her content.
Amanda Merdzan started writing, as the front-woman, for her former band Shake Angel, who launched their self titled EP in 2007, playing to over 300 people at their launch. The band gigged heavily around Perth until their unofficial separation in 2008, which allowed Merdzan to head in her preferred musical direction: a softer, more melodic, acoustic folk sound with much more diversity and room to be creative.
Amanda Merdzan began playing solo in 2008 and has since supported acts such as; Skipping Girl Vinegar (VIC), Timothy Nelson & The Infidels, Split Seconds & Chatsey La Rouge. This year she also played at the WAMi Saturday Spectacular Closing Party at Amplifier Bar alongside Jebediah and Will Stoker & The Embers.
A strong emphasis on lyrics and an honesty in her voice sees Merdzan connect with her audience in a humbled and intimate way.
Before embarking on a trip to the US to play solo shows in New York City for three months, Amanda Merdzan launches her debut album ‘Into The Gallery’, with her new band at Mojo’s Bar, Fremantle on Friday 20 August.
